Hi,

i just purchased DigMeta and i'm now doing some tests with Ventrian's NewsArticles module.

I am missing two things, which are very important for me, because they are heavily used to structure news content:

  • The "featured" flag (to mark "Top news")
  • the associated image (to display thumbnail in "latest news" modules)

Are these features not (yet) supported by DigMeta or am i just not seeing them?

Thanks for a really cool functionality, which will be a tremndous usability boost for my users,

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
I'm glad you like the product. We are limited to the capabilities of Live Writer. The MetaWeblog api only has so much functionality. digMeta can bend that functionality somewhat. We could put the featured flag as a category that could be selected. As far as the associated image, that would be a little difficult. Is there are certain set of images that you select from, or are the images constantly changing?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
thanks for clarifying - i understand that there are some limitations.

To work around these, a "featured" category would be fine for me. That should work.

The associated images are content-related and constantly changing. Would some filename-rules work? If e.g. an image "articleimage.jpg" is inserted in the text, then this could be used as associated image.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe, that's a great idea. We'll be releasing 1.1 in the next few days. I will put these suggestions in the feature requests for the next release.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

that's great news. Looking forward to the new release.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Is there already a release date for the Plugin SDK?

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
I'm going to make the Plugin SDK part of the 1.1 release. Everything is pretty much ready, just trying to decide on the best way to make it available to people who haven't purchased digMeta.
Thanks,
Mike
