I have used digFlash in one of my DNN sites and loaded a gallery swf file that uses an xml document to build the gallery.  I am getting errors with the loading of the xml.

I assume this is either due to scope and where the xml is placed, or there is something with it being loaded with digFlash.

Does digFlash support using external files loading into a swf?  If so, what level or folder should the support files be placed?  Portal Root, Parent Portal Root?  I have placed my xml in every conceivable folder and still no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
~Law Blank

Hi Law,

It looks like the gallery module is using the current url to look for the xml file.  Analyzing your site it is looking for the following:

http://www.blankgallery.com/b/vancl...0/film.xml

Most flash modules allow you to pass a variable to specify where your xml file is located.  You might want to look for that and enter it into the digFlash variables.

The only other solution would be to make a directory structure on your site that mimics the url structure, and put your xml file there.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Thanks for responding so quickly.  After some trial and error, I got all the paths relative for the gallery and it is working like a champ.

Cheers,

Hi Law, I've got a simular problem. Please can you explain me what you did exactly? I assume all the files (swf, xml, folder with images) are in the Portals/0 folder!? In my case, my flash movie comes up, but without loading any images from the xml file. Thanks for any help...

Hey stanleysct,

Thanks for using digFlash. I am thinking you are having some problems with your pathing. Flash has a set of security rules that determine what can be loaded into your Flash app depending on where your app is running. It is called the Security Sandbox. You can read more about the Flash play 8 sandbox here.

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/a...urity.html

The security applied is based upon what player version you publish for. So player 7 has different security rules than 8, etc.....

So long story short, I would verify where you are trying to load your xml or other external objects from.

Let me know how it goes.
