I want a gallery that will allow my users to upload pictures, both one at a time and as a group into albums.  I think from what I've looked at those features are available.  What I was wondering was when a user uploads a picture do they see the files on the server (i.e it shows the root folder of the server for them to upload to) or does it just upload the file to a default location.  I don't want users seeing the files on the server and have noticed some module out there show the files during uploads.  How does the upload feature work?  A couple screenshots from the upload process would be great.  Also is the license for the domain, the portal or IP?

Thanks

Hi Greg,

Currently digSctter does not support albums, and it really don't have a user-upload.  i.e. it's designed for you or your admins to upload photos, not your normal users.  The users that do upload the photos do not see the files on the server.  The license is per DNN installation.  You can have unlimited portals in that 1 DNN installation.  On page 14 of the user guide, it has a screenshot of the upload screen.  We also have a demo you can download and install on a 'localhost' install.  If you are still interested and need further screenshots of the upload process, please let us know.

Thanks,

Mike

I've been looking at the demo and I might be able to make it work with a couple small changes. Is the source available and if not do you do customizations to your modules?

I was thinking about this too. I think if you allowed admins to setup an RSS feed using a dynamic URL (passing the UserID in a querystring for example) you woulld be able to connect Scatter to another photo module like Ventrian's Simple Gallery. Users would use Ventrian to upload/manage their photos but you could display them on a user profile (Active Profiles or Smart Thinker) using Scatter.

You would need to allow admins to choose a dynamic variable name from a querystring or session and then allow them to build an RSS feed dynamically

http://www.mysite.com/desktopmodules/gallerymodule/Rss.aspx?TabID=53&ModuleID=362&AuthorID=[userid]

where [userid] was a token replaced at runtime.

Hi,
We have big plans for digScatter 2.0 which will support more 'social' photo galleries. So each user can upload their own photos to digScatter.
Thanks,
Mike
